Farm Happenings
Get excited for the CSA Member potluck! We will be celebrating the summer solstice and sharing some delicious food together on Friday, June 27th starting at 6PM.
If you need to pick up your share late, on Friday at the farm from 7:30-4pm, please text Kristi at 859-552-4165.
You-Pick this week:
Flowers, herbs and kale are now open for you-pick! As a friendly reminder, we ask everyone to pick only enough for themselves and be conscious of leaving some for others. Items that are ready will have labels in the field. If a plant is not labelled, assume that it is not ready for harvest! For sunflowers, please take no more than five, and please limit your harvest of herbs and kale to roughly one bunch each. The first you-pick time outside of normal business hours will be on the evening of Friday the 27th.
Here is our handy-dandy guide for you-pick, including where to find the field, harvest methods, and other useful information.
Raspberries remain open for you-pick, but they are winding down. Blackberries will be coming soon. Each family can harvest 1 quart size container of berries a week.

Recipes & Tips for This Week’s Share
Patty pan squash is a delicious squash but is unfamiliar to many. Many kids have come up to the farm stand and pointed out the “spaceships,” or “UFOs.” We have lots of patty pan recipes on our blog (just look under the “Recipes” tab for squash), but my favorite is this very simple garlic-herb patty pan recipe.
Kohlrabi is a member of the brassicas, so it’s related to kale, cabbage, and broccoli. I like to say it’s great any way you like to fix a potato – mashed, fried, or otherwise. But in this warm weather, I think a great way to enjoy the cabbage-like flavor of this veggie is this Kohlrabi and carrot slaw.
Chard is a green best enjoyed cooked, and I find that it has a natural sweetness that pairs well with onions. Although it’s great sauteed simply with some onions, you could take it a step further to make Caramelized onion and chard quiche.
